Résumé

Français : Dans les ouvrages autobiographiques de Victor Sabardin, écrivain guadeloupéen, la quête de soi paraît concomitante avec celle d’une légitimation qui lui conférerait définitivement le statut d’écrivain. Cette aspiration est partie inhérente de la construction du dispositif autobiographique. Une analyse de l’iconographie des couvertures montrera la représentation symbolique d’une légitimité grandissante qui substituera peu à peu au personnage du fou celui de « l’écrivailleur-agriculteur ».

English: In his autobiographical works, the Guadeloupean writer Victor Sabardin attempts a quest of himself in order to find a legitimization that would definitively confer him the writer status. This aspiration is inherent to the construction of the autobiographical set. The study of the covers iconography shows the symbolic representation of a growing legitimacy in which the character of the madman is gradually replaced by the one of the "writer-farmer".
